Reemplazo del alternador

It’s a fairly simple process that you can do yourself in a short amount of time, but it requires dedication and care. At the very least, to save yourself some money, you should try it out.
The alternator is essential for cars with combustion engines. It converts mechanical energy into electrical energy through electromagnetic induction. It is one of the components of the electrical system, along with the battery and the voltage regulator. It charges the battery and powers the system when the engine is running. If the vehicle experiences misfires due to a dead battery and/or exhibits problems such as dim headlights, it is likely that the alternator is faulty. Repairing it isn’t difficult, but it requires basic mechanical knowledge, dedication, and careful attention to detail. The lifespan of alternators is between 7 and 10 years. The most common reasons for their failure are: damaged internal parts, engine oil leaks, or power steering fluid leaks.
Car battery charger, digital multimeter, socket and ratchet set, wrench set, new alternator, disposable gloves.
Herramientas necesarias:
Connect the multimeter to the battery and set the dial to DC. Connect the red lead to the positive terminal and the black lead to the negative terminal. A reading of 13.5 to 14.5 volts is good. If it’s lower, let the engine run for 5 minutes and repeat the test. If the problem persists, the battery needs to be replaced.
Tools needed:
Step by step
Charge the battery if it’s below 50%. Turn on the lights (with the engine off) for 4 minutes. Turn them off, start the engine, and if the alternator is producing the correct voltage, proceed to the diode test. If it fails, it needs to be replaced.
Load status
Disconnect the battery cables. Remove the alternator cables. Press the locking clip on the electrical connector going to the voltage regulator and push it out. Loosen the lock nut on the “BAT” cable and remove the ring terminal.
Alternator replacement
Loosen the tensioner bolt near the alternator. Slide the belt off the pulley. (Remember where each one goes.) Remove the old alternator and install the new one. To reinstall it, proceed in reverse.
Retire el alternador e instale el nuevo
With the alternator disconnected, check the serpentine belt for wear or stains on both sides, as these can cause it to slip; if so, replace it as well.
Revise la correa serpentina
Con el alternador desconectado, revise la correa serpentina, busque desgaste o manchas en ambos lados, ya que pueden provocar que ésta patine, de ser así también cámbiela.
